Wipeout HD Fury Tracks | Sol 2 (Redux)

Wipeout HD Fury Tracks | Sol 2 (Redux)

Sometimes I ask myself: “how much did I improve since EBS was born?”. Did I change approach to gaming photography or am I still using the very day-one approach? Well, I don’t know if I got better in this hobby, but for sure I changed my approach to it. Take a look at this old set. It was my first set ever here on EBS and the subject is the same: the amazing WipeoutHD, Sol2 track. If you look carefully, you’ll see that my first attempt at gaming photography was ‘careful’. Shots tried to include ships and landscapes all-in-one and I was careful not to cut anything out of the shot. In present set, on the contrary, ships are often out of bounds, with me caring about the emotions ons shot can give, instead of making it simply ‘good enough’. That said, a couple of shots from my Electric Blue Skies set are still beautiful in my opinion, maybe better than some of present ones, showing that in truth there’s no rules to make the perfect shot. One has to simply find the right moment and the right camera angle. Still, I think also that daring is good and the search for emotions must be done nonetheless.

Wipeout HD Fury Tracks | The Amphiseum

Wipeout HD Fury Tracks | The Amphiseum

Although The Amphiseum being a very dark setting at full nighttime, it wins because of the ability to lit the whole environment up with moonlight and neons. Another thing this track does very well is the unique architecture. Some ship close-ups, with the background out of focus gave me some good vibes thanks to the whole track design. This means that during game and track design, coders at Studio Liverpool did not forget to gave any possible chance to the game photographer. Nice job guys.

Wipeout HD Fury Tracks | Tech De Ra

Wipeout HD Fury Tracks | Tech De Ra

Tech de Ra is not a sunny, super-saturated primary-colored track as some others appearing in the Wipeout HD roster, but with its oranges and browns and wisely put violets and blues it’s easily able to draw the player’s attention and love. It has lots of variety for the gaming photographer and it’s one of the most difficult to play because of the absence of any guard rails in some portions of the track and bends.

Wipeout HD Fury Tracks | Talon's Junction

Wipeout HD Fury Tracks | Talon’s Junction

So I’m back to WipeoutHD once again. And I promise, it’s not the last time. Talon’s Junction is one of the prettiest track of Wipeout HD Fury, period. It sports the flashiest colors, a well designed track, it’s funny and a breeze to play. Any screenshot taken on this track is colorful and kicking, the only drawback is that they all look a little bit too similar. That’s why this set is only a 11-pics collection. In the future I might be back on the whole Wipeout collection for a change in template or just to add a few pics. It’s because I really love this game.

So, Wipeout’s back on EBS and we have to thank Playstation Network’s hacking for this present I must say. It has been a pleasure to discover again and again how beautiful this game can be. In my old Wipeout HD galleries I posted a maximum of 8-10 photos each, thinking quality was better than quantity. But now that I am a little bit more used to Wipeout photo-mode I wanna try to post good AND informative screenshots as well. As I’m doing for my Halo series, I’ll try to include in my next galleries some more ships-dedicated photos but also weapons and explosions stuff. Plus, of course, my signature aesthetics-focused pics.

Which game could possibly be the one to be here, for my post #100? Of course WipeoutHD, the game that started it all. It was October the 16th, 2010, and electricblueskies.com began its adventure with a post named Electric Blue Skies, featuring Sol2 with its wonderful skies and clouds. A few months after we are still here and believe me, I wasn’t sure it could be possible. This photo-set of the Chenghou Project track is the last one featuring the wonderful game by Studio Liverpool, maybe some day we will be back with a new photo-set, maybe to celebrate my post #1000.

Magnetic Fields

Magnetic Fields

February 26, 2011  |  WIPEOUTHD  |  No Comments

Metropia is a fast city track. Perhaps the one with the darkest attitude, being filled with magnetic fields, at sundown, in a future metropolis. If Bruce Wayne was a Wipeout pilot, he would probably live here; a place made of concrete, glass and steel, with carbon, orange and violet as recurring hues.
