Tidus and Yuna left Besaid Island boarding the SS Liki. During the trip to Kilika Island they meet Sin in two battle forms, then the giant expression of chaos moves to Kilika Island and raises some hell. It’s not a bad monster, it’s just its nature. When on the Island, our beloved summoner purifies the souls of the dead ones, then the group goes to Kilika Temple and fights one of the best looking sinspawns to date: Geneaux. After some new trials in Kilika Temple the group departs into a new direction with a new ship and a new friend: Ifrit. These screenshots were taken via Pcsx2 emulation (Ps2 textures rendering x4, Hardware AAx3, 1080 vertical px) in 4:3 ratio (as the original game), but there are a few shots (mainly in-battle pics) I decided to cut in 16:9 ratio for a more cinematic effect (variable sizes). I just wanted to inform you that I am shamelessly promoting this website on my blog when I use these caps as resources. These are so well done, and thank you so much for them.
Hi Tori. Sorry for my late commentary. I see that you like my work, and are honest enough to mention my website on Tumblr. Keep following me, I have some surprises. Ciao!
Absolutely, credit where it’s due. I encourage everyone to look at this website when I link them to your site as the source. I’m so excited for what you have in store! Keep doing what you’re doing.
Thanks again. Did you notice that I added some extra photos to this set? All the screenshots with the SS Liki (Boat) were not here in the first place. I had some problems with emulation. Sometimes there was a ‘ghost’ frame that ruined some pics (there were unwanted double-shadows… you can spot this issue if you take a closer look at the tentacles of Lord Ochu, but it’s hard to spot in this case and I left the screenshot as it was). Now I found a solution for it, and emulation is almost perfect. Probably I will add extra pics to old photo-sets also in the future.
I really like the clarity of the gameplay with Tidus, Yuna and Kimahri, and I look forward to using your updated pictures as resources. Also, I’ve noticed all the screenshots you choose to emulate are gameplay/in-game cutscenes. Are you going to do any CGI emulations?
Not at all. Upscaled CGI is blocky and blurry and would be unappropriate with the other stuff. Emulation can render higher textures but cannot improve CGI as good as it does with textures and polygons. There are some screenshots with bitmap mixed with poligons which I had to discard because bitmap was too low-resolution (in the Zanarkand photo-set). In some future photo-sets (for example the Djose/Moonflow chapter with the shoopuf station that will be online March the 15th) I decided to post bitmap/polygons screenshots because no other way was possible to portray the cute shoopuf, but that will be an exception. One of the few. Plus, if I want to be unique, the less CGI and cutscenes I’m going to post, the more personal and unique this portfolio will be. You can already find tons of CGI/cutscenes on the net. Maybe not as HD as mines, but that’s not the stuff that will make my portfolio special… Or try to.
That’s interesting, I’m not very knowledgeable with emulators, so this has been really helpful. And kudos to the new photoset on March 15 (which is also my birthday) I can’t wait to see all the lovely things you post.
